MyBayshoreCare Patient & Care Portal
With over 100 locations nationwide, Bayshore HealthCare delivers in-home and clinical care across highly distributed environments. Coordination between families, caregivers, and practitioners is essential - yet often fragmented.
Bayshore aimed to become an early adopter of a cloud-based home-care platform’s APIs to create a custom, unified front-end experience.
The Problem
Care communication and coordination were spread across channels and systems.
Bayshore needed:
A centralized digital portal for families, caregivers, and practitioners
Secure access to care information and remote management tools
A scalable foundation built on API-driven architecture
A modern UX that could support diverse user groups with varying technical comfort levels
This was both a technical integration challenge and a multi-stakeholder experience challenge.
The Approach
API-Driven Experience Design
Designed a connected portal leveraging cloud-platform APIs to unify care data into a single, cohesive interface.
Multi-Stakeholder UX Strategy
Created tailored flows for:
Families monitoring care
Caregivers managing visits and updates
Practitioners coordinating services
Focused on clarity, trust, and accessibility in a healthcare context.
Pilot-Driven Iteration
Launched an initial pilot at the Barrie, Ontario location (1,000+ clients) to validate assumptions, test usability, and refine workflows before broader rollout.
Key Experience Features
Structured onboarding to align care teams early
Contextual client background information to build trust
Ongoing digital wellness dialogue and updates
Embedded eCommerce functionality for additional service purchases
Impact
Successfully launched MyBayshoreCare.ca (September 2018)
Improved transparency and coordination across care stakeholders
Enabled remote care management through a unified portal
Validated scalable API-first architecture through pilot rollout
This project demonstrates platform-level thinking in a regulated, high-trust healthcare environment — balancing technical API integration, multi-role UX design, and iterative pilot validation to deliver a connected digital care experience.
